Inverters

Off Grid & Grid Tie inverters

  1. The last few days I've been monitoring my sytem a bit having good sunlight just wanting to make sure all is well. What I came across is alarming. Keeping in mind that my inverters were set to the recomended 53,2 volt for Charging and float of Pylontech batteries I found that the voltage would actually creep up and cause OV logs using multisibcontrol. I proceeded to reduce the voltage to 53,0v yesterday and were still logging High Voltage logs. This morning I changed it 52,8 Volt. Although not logging anymore alarms it still managed to climb to 53,535 volts. Just shows you how important it is to double check that your system is happy. I think …

  2. Over the years I've read through many posts on Powerforum while trying to problem solve my own installation "bugs". I hope I can give a fraction of that useful info back. I've seen a lot of posts relating to inverter/ battery comms. frustration. I recently installed a Growatt SPF3000TL-48V with a Pylontech US3000C battery and had what seems to be the expected battery/ inverter comms cable issues. Using the RJ45 type comms cable supplied with the cable kit, I got warnings "04" (low battery) and "20" (BMS communication error) on the inverter. But the first problem was actually the the baud rate DIP switch on the Pylontech US3000C, - which in this case was i…

  3. Good mornig. I have a client running a Mecer SOL-AX-8M 8kW inverter, paired with 8x 12 volt 200aH VRLA batteries, and 12x 430Watt solar panels. The system works generally well and has been used purely for backup purposes until recently when the client installed additional batteries and wanted to start using the inverter in a "solar first" approach to start saving on electricity. The issue is that when the output source priority is set to SUB (solar, utility, battery), and the sun is for example rising in the morning and the solar power is insufficient to carry the load, the batteries are supplementing what the solar doesn't, and not Utility. Every morni…

  4. hi All, the inverter seems all fine.. until the AC input drops off.. then the WR warning is shown and seconds later the inverter shuts down... I downloaded the latest solar power app and saw that it is an Over Temp Fault.. (see pics below) - is there anything that can be done about this? or is it game-over...? much appreciated Stephan

Lately I have noticed a huge dip in PV generation during load shedding. I have checked a couple of things and what I noticed is that the MPPT is going nuts. Voltage would go down as current increase. Once it reaches 11Amps it looks tile the controller reset and goes back to Zero amps. This complete cycle takes around 15 to 20 seconds. Now this only happens if there is load shedding, meaning mains is off. According to the SEMS portal my load is jumping up and down, sometimes to over 7kw. We know this is not possible as the unit can only output 4.6kw during load shedding. Anybody else also seeing this problem? I have raised it with Goodwe in the pas…

I've got requests to provide inverter backup (UPS) for several 3-phase motors. The motors are considered as critical operation and at present they're supplied by Eskom power are are backed up by generator so during power outages/load shedding the motors stop then auto-restart after a short time period when the generator supply has stabilized. This short downtime has been deemed unacceptable and the power supply needs to be improved to be uninterupted so the supply will be Eskom > UPS > Generator and vice versa upon Eskom supply restore. All the motors are standard 380-400v 4-pole induction motors and range between fractional horsepower and 2.2kW and are used fo…

Hello everyone. I have a Pylontech UP5000 coonected to a Kodak VM III (OG5.48) which when connected with a comms cable goes to low battery alarm mode even if the eveter is displaying voltage above 52V and the BMS soc lights are showing that the battery is full or almost full. The inverter fimware version is V41.17.7z. what could possibly be the problem.

  8. I have currently got a grid tied solution which works great when the sun shines and the grid is up. Can I install a Hybrid solution first and keep my grid tied? In theory the Hybrid will trick the grid tied that the the grid is still up. When the sun is down the grid tied will switch off and I will het back up power from Hybrid system. Is my assumption correct?

  9. Hi PowerForum Users, Looking for some assistance into a problem being experienced in a single phase parallel Axpert power system. 3 x Axpert 5kVA/4kW inverters setup in parallel. We have the communication cables and current sharing cables installed, and have tried to ensure that the AC input cables and AC output cables are equal length. While the Axpert inverters are in Grid mode, their respective load power can differ quite significantly – to the extent that the system has been tripping one of the inverters recently. However, while the inverters are in SBU mode, the load is shared very equally across all three inverters and an overload event has n…

  10. This question is in reference to the ShineWIFI-S (firmware version 3.0.0.0) with the standard data update interval of 5 minutes (connected to a growatt hybrid inverter). Does anyone have any data as to how much data is stored locally, e.g. in the event of an internet disruption or the destination server (server.growatt.com) not being reachable? I'm assuming a TCP connection, rather than UDP, is made and as such data is acknowledged on the server before the data logger 'forgets' the data.

I have a 5kw sunsynk inverter. I have noticed that sometimes if everything goes on at the same time then it goes into the red. I know it can handle over 5kw for a short period. What happenes if the ac loads goes into the red for a long period?

Hi everyone Yesterday round about the time of the big storm in JHB, my SOC readings on my Deye inverter went haywire and since then it won't charge the batteries at all. The voltage reading on the inverter equals the float charge voltage, even though I can see on the batteries that they are 50% full. So it just sits at 100%. Any help please? Thanks

  13. I have a Mustek/Axpert 5kva. When grid goes down I want to send a signal to 10 different linux machines to shutdown. They will start up automatically when power comes back (this is a bios setting) has anyone done something like this?

  14. I'm planning a new system and I'm torn between the Growatt SPF 5000 ES or SunSynk 5kVA inverters. I would like to get some opinion and views on those 2 options. I have a prepaid meter, so cannot feed back to the grid. I was very much inclined towards the SunSynk option, because if it's ability to push excess PV power through the AUX port and feed the geyser, until I read on another thread, that AUX uses the batteries, which was a bit of a put off. In the beginning, I planning to use a small battery system - 4 lead acid/calcium Royal batteries with the setup and replace with Lithium batteries later. However, looking at the prices, the Growatt with a 2.4kwh lithium is very …

  15. G'day all, Any suggestions for budget inverters (3-5kw) that support 48v batteries that have support for a generator? Sort of like the Sunsynk that has a load ramping facility at generator startup as well as load limiting, but without the price tag. Thanks in advance

  16. .I have 1 UP5000 Pylontech battery connected to a Growatt SPF 5000 inverter The inverter sometimes go to alarm mode 20(BMS communication error ) for 2 minutes and reset itself after two minutes and operate normal for days . This has now occurred twice. What could be the cause of this error?

On my Axpert RCT - AXMAX8k, I upgraded main cpu firmware from version 46.02 to 46.05 and remote panel firmware from 12.03 to 12.06. System now running as it should..... using solar more efficiently, approx 40% more solar generated on demand ( before it stayed on bypass most of the time and blended power) now stays on battery mode for most of the day when solar output is higher than usage.

3Phase advice needed. So we are between 2 fires on a 3phase installation using SunSynk. Either 2x 12Kw 3phase units or 3x 8.8kw units in a 3phase configuration. Question I have. If you go with 3x 8.8kwh units, and lets say one of The 3 inverters dies or goes offline for any reason, will this be considered as a phase loss? Will a phase protection relay help on a case of Inverter that drops out? Same goes for when the eskom side drops a phase, will this have an influence on the operations on the inverter(s)

  20. Hi Guys, I just want to find out, if this inverter is connected to grid what is the max AC passthrough current it will handle? I know if there is no grid connected its 5kw but what can it handle while on-grid? Ive had this inverter for just over 3 months and today was the first time it had an AC overload issue and the grid was connected and on and I think the house was demanding about 6 kw, i thought it would just blend the rest from grid?

Hi My name's Pasquale, I'm italian. I ask support about an issue regarding "grid watt" or "grid current" to read from the inverter via RS232. I'm non a professional programmer, I've an inverter hybrid 7,2 kw (Voltronic brand) and I'm communicating via serial wit a simple program written in C# I can see the data with the QPIGS comand, but I can't see the grid current or grid watts. When I use QPIRI command there are the grid current but it is fixed (probably the target data of the inverter). This value is necessary for me because I would like design a software for the autoconsumption managing via a relay board. Acutally I can see "grid watt" on the M…

To prevent PCs restarting during the slight dip in power as the inverter switches between SUB etc, we have multiple small ups on our pcs. Say there's 10 of these. The input current rating on the sticker shows 10a each. That's 2.4kw each, 24kw just on the UPSs. Although the devices behind the upss are rated around 400w max. What would be a reasonable kw value to use in calculating loads for the inverters, obviously 24kw is way too much

I am wondering how the fault code 16 after connecting AC input into both inverters in a parallel split phase operation. I have exactly confirmed the wire connection and the communication connection with double D-sub 9 connecting cables. Although the fault code 16 means that "Input phase is not correct", the AC input L1, L2 and neutral line is connected exactly to each inverter from the grid. Therefore, I think that the firmware in my inverters may be affecting to this issue. The version of the firmware is 04 701 in each inverter. Dose anybody know where I can get the newest firmware?

  25. Wanted to test the functioning of a Grid Tied inverter as input on the Aux port of my 8k Sunsynk with battery storage. Ran a temporary cable from my 2nd, Grid tied, 8kW Sunsynk into my Aux port and simulated a grid outage to run the batteries down to the 96% start up setting. It worked as described - the only problem being how the input power is displayed. On the flow diagram the Aux input shows only 2w when the input was actually around 800w. That is not the strangest. When I stopped the test by changing the setting back from Micro Inverter to generator, the Aux and the UPS displayed 32,700w and 33,300w respectively. It stayed that way un…
