April 29, 20215 yr On 2020/08/24 at 5:17 PM, Beat said: how did I find out that I was delivered with stolen batteries? Well, such batteries are not just simple devices with 2 terminals like car batteries. These are sophisticated systems with built in microprocessor controlled battery management system, with display, keyboard and communication connectors. On the front panel is a warning label: Read the instructions before use. But there was no instruction delivered with the batteries. Not thinking of any bad I visited the website of the manufacturer LEOCH in the attempt to download the instructions. But I could not find them. So I wrote a message to please send me the instructions. The next day I got an answer from the representative agent of LEOCH in South Africa, asking me the serial numbers of the batteries and from whom I bought them. I wondered what the serial numbers have to do with the instructions and I couldn't find any on the equipment. He then explained to me that such battery are stolen from cellphone installations since this type of batteries are exclusively sold to cellphone networks. And that these are shipped with instructions, with communication cable and a software cd. Then I found the following video on internet:https://youtu.be/P2gSsN8NlRg. I immediately requested the Installer JLS-Solar in Voorbay/Mosselbay to take them back and to reimburse the money. He reclaimed them the same day but with reimbursing it went not so fast. Finally he payed back in 2 parts up to R2000. I then bought and got delivered replacement from the official importer Averge Ltd. They are technically the same as the stolen ones but light gray instead black and with slightly changed front panel. Hi there - similar situation- can I please get your contact number or email address?

January 19, 20224 yr Anyone use www.geoty.co.za? Their prices on panels are good. Been checking them regularly and stock on panels have been moving down so I'm assuming people have been buying. Lots of content on the site that looks legit.

I was also sceptical, but as you said, I also saw stock moving and delivery dates continuously moving forward, so I decided to take a chance and order panels from them. I will be able to confirm soon, as my delivery date is tomorrow.

January 19, 20224 yr something I've been wondering, what's the max lead anybody would put up with on delivery of goods upon order, I know everybody's different from yesterday isn't fast enough, to it gets here when it gets here, but was wondering all the same. this isnt aimed at any site in particular, but hopefully helpful. web site signs of life aren't an indication of validity, just more effort on the part of the conman, these things are easily programmed. a story of a really convincing scam site below, well sortof convincing anyway a while ago I was sent a scam website by someone who believed it to be true where the scam was to do image to text input, highly repetitive captcha type numerals, with the promise of usd returns on inputs done, and this was put forward as legitimate needed "work" btw. this site also updated "live" numbers etc etc of so called successful participants. the scam was to get your reward funds out you had to pay some small money to buy points or something from a "listed participant" anyway, in an attempt to prove it was a scam and stop this person from going forward with it, so convincing it was, I automated the image recognition and input of the result, and left it running 24/7. I did around $2000 a day according to the site, and obviously never got a cent out, ever. should also mention that although I was clearly the top earner based on the earnings of the rotated canned list on display, I never featured. seeing is believing, but is what you're seeing real possibly dodgy deals online should always have some kind of escrow in place in my opinion, no delivery, no money. why take chances at all in fact. make it impossible for scammers to get their money, and they'll move on or maybe even get a real job Edited January 19, 20224 yr by Nitrious

I see their price have increased as well (R170) per panel on the 540W panels, but they are still the cheapest by far in town. On 2022/01/19 at 11:25 AM, WannabeSolarSparky said: Looking forward to see the result of this. I just received a call from Geoty. Truecaller identified the number belongs to "Land Works Africa Ta Geoty Resources". The guy was very apologetic as they were supposed to deliver my panels today. He said they have a backlog of orders and ran out of stock at their warehouse and had to get stock from their other branch in Cape Town and will only be available early next week. Obviously I was not very impressed. He said if it is unacceptable to me, they would give me a refund if I am not willing to wait. I don't want a refund. Then I have to order it from somewhere else and probably pay R5000 more for the same panels. I said it is fine, I will wait. He sent me a new invoice, reflecting the new delivery date as 28 January 2022. I told him I need another 4, but they will force me to get it somewhere else. He said once they deliver the panels next week, we can discuss the next order. I guess we all have to wait another week. Personally, I am not concerned, I am confident I will receive the panels.
